About a girl by Nirvana. Originally from their 1989 debut, Bleach, but this is the 1994 MTV unplugged version, released after Cobain’s death as the first single from the album.

Two of Hearts by Stacy Q. Born Stacey Swain in California this is her best known hit. Released in 1986 from her debut album Better Than Heaven.

The Main Event by Barbra Streisand. Soundtrack song from the 1979 film starring Streisand herself and Ryan O’Neill.

I’ll Remember by Madonna. From the 1994 soundtrack to With Honors, starring Joe Pesci and Brendan Fraser.

Push It by Salt ‘n Pepa. Cheryl James (“Salt”), Sandra Denton (“Pepa”), and originally Latoya Hanson who was replaced by Deidra Roper (“DJ Spinderella”); they formed in 1985. This was the 4^th and by far the most successful single release from their 1986 debut album, Hot, Cool & Vicious. The single was from 1987.

*Sure Fire Thing by The Runners. Their debut single from 1981. Fronted by Paul McNaughton…aka Paul Norton.

*Bad Girls by Rabbit. 1976 single from this Newcastle band that started life in 1973 as The Cherries. Not sure why the name change…or exactly when.

*I was Only 19 by Redgum. Redgum’s lead vocalist-guitarist, John Schumann, wrote the song based on experiences he heard from veterans—particularly Mick Storen (his brother in-law) and Frankie Hunt. Royalties for the song go to the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia. It is in the Australasian Performing Right Association’s Top 30 Australian Songs of all time. It was released in 1983.

*Only Time by The Riptides. 7” single release from 1981. As was all their music, written by Mark ‘Cal’ Callaghan.

*Living in the Land of Oz by Ross Wilson. 1976 movie soundtrack song from Oz, A Rock and Roll Road Movie.

*Say I love You by Renee Geyer. 1981 hit from a woman who described herself as “a white Hungarian Jew from Australia sounding like a 65-year-old black man from Alabama”.

I Will Not Forget You by Sarah McLachlan. From Solace, her second album, released in 1991.

Don’t Forget me When I’m gone by Glass Tiger. a Canadian rock band formed in 1983, in Newmarket, Ontario. This is their biggest hit and comes from their 1986 debut album, The Thin Red Line. It features fellow Canadian Bryan Adams as backup!

You Put a Move on My Heart by Tamia and Quincy Jones. A 1995 Quincy Jones track featuring Tamia.

Fairytale of NY by The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl. Number 1 hit for them in Ireland, no. 2 in the UK, in 1987. It came off the 1988 album, If I Should Fall from Grace with God, their third.

Rivers of Babylon by Boney M. 1978 was the group’s biggest year. They released a new double A-sided single, “Rivers of Babylon/Brown Girl in the Ring”, which became a massive hit all over Europe, reaching #1 in several countries as well as becoming one of the biggest selling singles of all time in the UK. I imagine it charted here but I can’t find its place.
