Show 350
The Lunatics Have Taken Over the Asylum by Fun Boy Three. A track from their 1982 debut, self-titled album. The band consisted of three ex-members of the UK ska band The Specials: Terry Hall, Neville Staple and Lynval Golding.
+Your Love by Frankie Knuckles. Request.
+Dance this mess around by B52s: off album The B-52s, 1979. I loved this as a sophomore in HS.
+I’ll Tumble 4 Ya by Culture Club. From 1983 debut album Kissing to Be Clever. The single was released only in North America, peaking at number nine in both the U.S. and Canada. With this single, in America, Culture Club was the first band to have three top-ten singles from a debut album since The Beatles.
+Just keep me moving by KD Lang: from Even Cowgirls get the Blues soundtrack, 1993. I must admit to almost actively disliking most of the KD Lang collection, but this one’s ok. The film was weird, as most Gus Van Sant films are, but not as bad as the reviews made it out to be. And with lots of trans and gay themes, too.
Down in it by Nine Inch Nails. Request.
99 Luftballons by Nena. Request.
C’mon Billy by PJ Harvey. Request.
Breathe Again by Toni Braxton. Request.
Welcome to the Boomtown by David and David. 1986 single from Boomtown, their only album. They are David Baerwald and David Ricketts, Los Angeles based American musicians. This is their best known work.
Aussies – 1993
*Skating on Thin Ice by Girlfriend. Early ‘90s girl group from Sydney. They changed their name to GF4 in 1994 after the departure of one of the founders and ditched the good girl image at the same time. This is from the 1993 AIDS charity album, Voices for Life.
*Hundreds of Languages by Ganggajang. 1993 single from Lingo, their third album.
*Honeymoon is Over by The Cruel Sea. Title track from their 3rd studio album, released in 1993. It won the 1994 ARIA awards for best song and single of the year.
*Earth Mother by Kev Carmody. Aboriginal singer best known for From Little Things, Big Things Grow. From his third album, Bloodlines, released in 1993.
*Never Miss your Water by Diesel. From his 1993 album, The Lobbyist. It was his fourth. It was released as a single, his 5th as Diesel. Mark Lizotte, aka Diesel, was born in the US but raised largely in Perth.
*Tomorrow by Innocent Criminals. The 1993 demo version of what eventually became the debut single by these guys renamed as Silverchair. This version won them a contest on TripleJ that landed them a contract…for some reason they changed the name for the video.
I want you to want me by Cheap Trick. RequestCold World by Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley. The second single from the Hurley’s compilation, Work It Out, on Atlantic Records, released in 1989. Silk is an American club DJ, pioneering house-music producer, songwriter, and four time Grammy Award-nominee.
Endless Road by Time Bandits. 1985 single from Fiction, which was largely a compilation from their first studio albums…but also including this and a couple of other new tracks. They were Dutch.
London Nights by London Boys. From their 1989 debut, The Twelve Commandments of Dance. Despite their name, the boys (Edem Ephraim and Dennis Fuller) were based in Germany.
