Discrimination sucks! But when discrimination comes from members of your own community, that can hit much harder.
As LGBTQIA+ people we often already suffer ridicule or exclusion from members of wider society, so why do members of our own tribe sometime turn on us also?
Tonight we heard from 3 young people who have experienced discrimination within the LGBTQIA+ community. We will look at their stories and hear about some of the changes they would like to see moving forward.
We will explore what it is like to be bi-sexual and struggle to find inclusion within the straight or queer community. What life has been like for a young Queer Person of Colour new to Australia, and another young Gender Non-Conforming individual.
Let’s work towards making a more inclusive community for all.
Look forward to chatting to you all next week!
Delsi.
