Family Rejection

Tonight we spoke about a tough but important topic, family rejection.

Did you know that approximately 50% of LGBTQIA+ youth experience family rejection in some way?

This could be through dismissal of their identity, refusal to use ones correct pronouns or being kicked out of home.

In fact, a recent study showed that currently 40% of homeless youths are LGB or T.

Rejection hurts, no matter how it happens or where it comes from.
But when we experience rejection by our own family that can be one of the toughest.

Tonight, we will be chatting to 4 different young people about their experience, what happened to them and how they have dealt with it.

And hopefully by sharing their stories, we can start more conversations about this important topic and possibly also assist you, if this is something you have experienced.

Remember, there are always people who want to listen and support you.
If this podcast has raised concerns for you, we recommend that you contact Qlife on 1800 184 527.

Chat to you next week when we do a special Non-Binary Episode!
