Saving The Orang-utans

Arts, Health, News & Politics, Society & Culture

Virgin rainforest in Indonesia and Malaysia is being cleared at an extraordinary rate so that Palm Oil plantations can provide the seemingly endless demand for cheap vegetable oil. Palm Oil is found in so many of our everyday products from cosmetics and cleaning products to bio-fuel and food. Sadly this means the Orang-utans that live in these forests, now are without a home and they become pests to famers as they eat the palm tree saplings. General Manager of Community Conservation at Zoos Victoria, Emily Dunstan, joins us to discuss how we can help save these endangered creatures.
