The Rise of Minor Parties – Dr Zareh Ghazarian

The last few federal elections has seen the election of minor political parties to the Senate.  What has enabled this to occur?  How can seemingly obscure political parties with so few primary votes, end up holding the balance of power?  What does this mean for the forthcoming federal election?  What do the major political parties think of this situation?

These questions and many more form the content of Dr Zareh Ghazarian book titled The Making of a Party System: Minor Parties in the Australian Senate.

Dr Zareh Ghazarian is a Lecturer in Politics in the School of Social Sciences at Monash University and recently he was awarded the Australian Prime Minister’s Centre Fellowship for 2015-16.

Dr Ghazarian joins Dean for some timely insights ahead of the 2016 Federal Election.
