Over the last 32 years, HIV has challenged the ethics of scientific and medical research extensively.  Much has been learned along the way and its thanks to the tens of thousands of participants, many of whom are no longer alive, that HIV is now manageable.

Jeremy Sugarman MD is a Professor of Bioethics and Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics and has worked for a number of US Presidents assisting the Whitehouse in forming ethical guidelines for research.  He walks us through the challenges faced by researchers and community activists alike as we navigate the rapidly evolving scientific developments towards an HIV cure
