“People go to the police officers for something else [like theft]. The police officers think they are feminine or something and do [arrest] the victim,” explains Simin from Helem, Lebanon’s LGBT group. He also argues that LGBT acceptance–promoted heavily by Lebanese tourist industry–is “an image, but it’s not the true reality”.
