Arab and Gay: the stark reality

Africa and the Middle East

Discover what it is like to be Arab and gay in a region of the world known as MENA – Middle East and North Africa – the Arab countries.

How would you survive being thrown in gaol just for being gay? Coming to Australia after such an experience would surely be liberating and open up a whole new world of freedoms – or does it? And what are the challenges of being gay and Arab in our home town of Melbourne?

To answer these questions we spoke with Tim and Ben from Helem – Melbourne’s Arab and Gay Group.

Find out more on W3JOY’s Arab And Gay homepage.
