GLOBAL ATTITUDES TO LGBT PEOPLE (PART 1): COME OUT, COME OUT!

News & Politics, Worldwide

In statistics, sample size is everything.  And when you have done a survey about public attitudes towards people of differing genders and sexualities and 116,000 people in 77 countries respond, you’ve probably got a voice of authority. Tonight we look at this latest report.

  • How do you access people in countries where LGBTI people are persecuted?
  • What do people really think about respect for sexualities in those countries?
  • Against the backdrop of our marriage equality debate, do Australians really want to criminalise same-sex relations?

Bringing us up-to-date on the latest data, we were joined by Aengus Carroll, co-author of the ILGA-RIWI Global Attitudes Survey on Sexual, Gender and Sex Minorities (www.ilga.org).
