HONG KONG: FIGHTING THE RAINBOW BOOK BAN

Asia/Pacific, News & Politics

It is a far too common ploy by conservative groups to use children as a device to spread homophobia – that familiar catch cry of “who’s looking after the children.” And tonight’s example comes in the form of a ban on children’s books in Hong Kong libraries that dare to present LGBTI people – mainly Rainbow families.

  • Who is behind the petition that led to the ban on these inclusive books?
  • What effect does this have on Rainbow families?
  • How can you join the worldwide movement to free our libraries of homophobia?

Taking on the haters in order to let kids be kids, we were joined by The amazing Bess Hepworth from Planet Ally in Hong Kong (www.planetally.org.).
