Italy: The controversial life and death of Pier Paolo Pasolini

italy_flagBroadcast – 20 September 2016

The Italian Film Festival has kicked off in Melbourne and this year hosts a solid selection of queer content. Among the list is a film about a highly controversial and openly gay journalist, filmmaker and artist who was murdered in 1975.

His name is Pier Paolo Pasolini.

  • What made him such a divisive figure in Italian society?
  • What part did his open display of homosexuality in the 1960’s and 70’s play in his demise?
  • What legacy does he leave for Italian society today?

Opening some vino and kicking back with some bolognese with us is David Grieco, Director of the film La Macchinazione (The Ploy), showing at the 2016 Lavazza Italian Film Festival.
