EGYPT: THE FLAG THAT LAUNCHED AN ANTI-LGBT CRACKDOWN – October 10

Africa and the Middle East, News & Politics

In Australia, the rainbow flag is everywhere at the moment as part of our fight for marriage equality.  In Egypt it is an entirely different story.  In an act of support for an openly gay singer, some members of a concert crowd waved rainbow flags which caught the attention of local media – becoming a catalyst for the latest crackdown on Egypt’s LGBT community.
