WE ARE FAMILY: RAINBOW FAMILIES IN THE ASIA-PACIFIC

Asia/Pacific, News & Politics

Last week, Australia’s Northern Territory changed its laws to allow same-sex adoption.  The significance may well have been lost on many.  It was the last piece of Australia’s parliamentary jigsaw to change its adoption laws to allow Rainbow Families.  Whilst this is great news in Australia, there is enormous variation in the acceptance of Rainbow Families across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • What inspired a grass-roots forum to start campaigning and networking for same-ses families?
  • Which countries in the Asia-Pacific are doing Rainbow Families well?
  • How might the passage of marriage equality laws in Australia make a difference to Rainbow Families?
Bringing the fight for the right to have Rainbow Families to light, we were joined by Stephen Page and his partner Mitch from the Asia-Pacific Rainbow Families Forum.
