AUSTRALIA: QUEERING SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Asia/Pacific, News & Politics

After the “me too” movement, the workplace culture in science has increasingly been in under the spotlight around the world, for how people are treated within it. A group of scientists are taking on inclusion with the first worldwide event – LGBT in STEM day (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine).

  • How can science support the LGBT community?
  • How does an inclusive workplace change people’s lives?
  • What is the Australian contribution to a worldwide day in recognition of all LGBTI people in STEM?

Putting inclusion in science under the microscope, we spoke to Sarah Stephenson and Roberto Bonelli, two medical researchers from Melbourne involved in this special day (www.prideinstem.org)
