Nigeria: Coming Out From the Shadows

In some countries, sexuality is used as a weapon. Countries where sexual orientation and gender identity are either outlawed or unaccepted, LGBTI people can experience black mail or town gossip. Nigeria is one such place. But one gay man is making it his mission to tell the stories of Nigeria’s LGBTI people.

Oulimede Femi Mankanjoula has produced five films – the latest is called Walking With Shadows. It was due to show this week at the Melbourne Queer Film Festival which has been postponed due to the COVID-19 virus. But the story and his motivations still need to be told.
