Families

Music

Hi Listeners

Families! We all have them in some form or another. So this week we are going to look at groups composed of family members – they can be brothers, sisters, brothers and sisters, couples, father and daughter and even twins! I tried to do some research on the question whether family groups harmonise better than non- family groups. Does the biological connection help groups to harmonise better?

To my frustration I couldn’t find any research on this question. But, when you listening see what you think. Some of the paramount brothers groups we will feature are the Bee Gees (How Can You Mend A Broken Heart?), the Everly Brothers (Crying In The Rain) and a famous early brother group consisting of four brothers – The Ames Brothers (Red River Rose). Sister groups are represented by the Maguire Sisters (I’ll Be Seeing You) and the Pointer Sisters (I’m So Excited).

There are husband and wife groups such as Sonny And Cher (I Got You Babe) and our own Anne and Johnny Hawker (Dear World). Two more unusual pairings are father and daughter, Frank and Nancy Sinatra, (Something Stupid) and the Kalin Twins (Forget Me Not).

So we hope you enjoy this week’s feast of family songs.
