Yesterday Once More

Countries and Nationalities

Music

Hi Listeners

This week we are featuring songs about countries and nationalities. It’s an eclectic mix. In the fifties and sixties there were many instrumental hits. This is a phenomenon almost unknown these days. So this week we are presenting four instrumental hits about countries and nationalities. These instrumentals are performed by some of the biggest orchestras of the day.

For example, the Percy Faith Orchestra had a number of very big hits including ‘Swedish Rhapsody’. Bob Moore’s orchestra scored a big hit with ‘Mexico’ and Hugo Winterhalter’ famous orchestra is featured with ‘Canadian Sunset’. Finally, renowned pianist Joe ‘Fingers’ Carr is here with his big hit ‘Portuguese Washerwoman’. As well we have a variety of songs covering different countries such as Desmond Dekker’s ‘Israelites’, Matt Munro singing ‘From Russia With Love’ and Del Shannon’s ‘The Swiss Maid’. Australia and England are represented too with ‘England Swings’ (Roger Miller) and Peter Allen’s iconic ‘I Still Call Australia Home’.

So come with us and let us take you on an international journey through many different countries
