Hi Listeners,

This week we are presenting two artists from two different eras: Cher and Buddy Holly. Since his untimely death in that plane crash of 1959 Buddy Holly has remained an important figure in the history of rock ‘n roll. His group The Crickets quickly established a teen following with catchy songs such as ‘That’ll Be The Day’ and ‘Maybe Baby’. When Holly left the group he established himself as a solo artist and song writer of excellence. A string of hits followed: ‘Peggy Sue’,’Peggy Sue Got Married’,’Crying Waiting And Hoping’ and the innovative ‘True Love Ways’.

Listening to his music today you can still feel the freshness and exuberance of Holly’ singing and songwriting. Cher started as a duo with husband, Sonny and they had a smash hit with ‘I Got You Babe’ and later ‘The Beat Goes On’. When she decided to go solo a string of hits followed: ‘Bang Bang’, ‘The Shoop Shoop Song’, ‘Gypsies Tramps And Thieves’ and probably her signature song ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’. Today Cher still commands a huge following and is still performing.

Two different artists from two different times but we hope you enjoy the mix.
