Where and When

Music

Hi Listeners,

A relatively straightforward theme this week: songs beginning with ‘Where’ and ‘When’. Starting with English group The Three Degrees (When Will I See You Again?) to a little known song from Dion And The Belmonts (Where or When) the program then presents that strangely, hypnotic, satirical narrative from Peter Sarstedt (Where Do You Go To?) which fired the imaginations of listeners in 1969. The Drifters minus Ben E King chip in with the catchy ‘When My Little Girl Is Smiling’ followed by popular fifties and sixties songbird Connie Francis (Where The Boys Are).

Popular group The Animals sing their bitter, nostalgic look at childhood (When I Was Young) replete with aeroplane noises and then a glimpse into the former career of Cat Stevens (Where Will The Children Play?) Three early fifties and sixties offerings follow with The Supremes (Where Did Our Love Go?), The Kalin Twins iconic ‘When’ and suoer duo, The Everly Brothers (When Will I Be Loved). Australia is represented by the young Jamie Redfern (When You Wish Upon A Star) and Lucky Starr’s novelty hit (I’ve Been Everywhere).
