Days Of The Week

Hi Listeners,

Last week our theme was Months Of The Year this week it is Days Of The Week. Through our research we have managed to locate a song for every day of the week. Some days seem to be favoured more than others: Sundays, Mondays and Fridays figure prominently. Starting with the Mamas And Papa’s big hit ‘Monday Monday’ we follow with an unknown song by Steely Dan called ‘Black Friday’. A couple of songs about Tuesday follow. Melanie’s great rendition of the Rolling Stone’s ‘Ruby Tuesday’ is preceded by another relatively unknown song by The Moody Blues – ‘Tuesday Afternoon’.

Wednesday is represented in Simon And Garfunkel’s lilting ‘Wednesday Morning 3AM” while Fats Domino concludes the program with ‘Blue Monday’. Two different connotations of Sunday appear in the Monkees ‘ Pleasant Valley Sunday’ and Sammi Smith’s heart-wrenching version of Kris Kristofferson’s ‘Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down’. Jim Croce’s tender ‘Thursday’ contrasts with the Drifters evocation of a remembered social event in ‘Saturday Night At The Movies’. Aussie legend group, the Easybeats, feature once again with the iconic ‘Friday On My Mind’.
