Yesterday Once More

29 Nov 2016

Time

Music

Hi Listeners

This week’s theme is Time. The dimension that controls all facets of our lives, Time features regularly in pop music too. A bright start to the program is the popular song ‘Sugartime’ from the McGuire Sisters, one of the most popular girl groups from the fifties. There are two songs with the title ‘Time’. Cutlure Club’s fairly obscure song ‘Time’ contrasts with an earlier song called ‘Time’ from British singer, Craig Douglas.

Poignant ballad,’For The Good Times’ features evergreen singer, Perry Como, while The Stones chime in with their bluesy ‘Time Is On My Side’. Two Aussie bands are included: Australia’s Easybeats sing one of their last hits ‘Good Times’ while The Mixtures perform their popular cover of the Mungo Jerry hit, ‘In The Summertime’. Songbird, Petula Clark sings one of her popular hits ‘Sign Of The Times’. An interesting singer is versatile Buffy Sainte-Marie, part American Indian, who sings ‘Until It’s Time For You To Go’ in French (Te’s Pas Un Autre).

Finally a variation of time is falsetto specialist Jimmy Jones with ‘Good Timin’ – an expose of the advantages of timing. The program ends with an unremarkable song from the Beatles – ‘Any Time At All’.
