Each program we present is a time capsule reflecting the viewpoints and values of a past era. This program is the fifth in our ‘Guys And Dolls‘ theme. All the songs in the program present the prevailing binary construct of gender which was prevalent back then. Today we are more enlightened and accept and celebrate diverse gender identities. Songs featured are Barry Manilow‘s poignant ‘Mandy’, Mike Nesmith‘s quirky ‘Joanne’ and Wayne Fontana‘s song about his wife ‘Pamela Pamela’. The Aussie highlight of the week is Adelaide band The Twilights’ ‘Cathy Come Home’.
