Classical Pop

This week Rob is joined by his old friend, Henri who is a lover of classical music. So the chosen theme is pop songs which use classical pieces as their melodies. The result is songs of excellent quality. Starting with Procol Harum‘s debut single ‘A Whiter Shade Of Pale’ the program moves through some wonderful singers such as Jo Stafford (No Other Love) and Randy Crawford (One Day I’ll Fly Away). Perhaps the most commercially sounding song is the Toys ‘A Lover’s Concerto’ based on a Bach Minuet. The Seekers are represented twice with ‘The Carnival Is Over’ and ‘Emerald City’.
