Again this year we present an eclectic approach to Christmas. A favourite from last year is the haunting ‘Huron Carol’ from the Canadian Tenors and Paddy Roberts’ irreverent ‘Merry Christmas You Suckers’. This year we’ve included perennial favourites ‘Oh Happy Day’ and ‘The Little Drummer Boy’. John Lennon‘s plea for peace ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over) has become another standard Xmas song. In Australia we have a dearth of Xmas songs so we’ve included the novelty song ‘Twelve Days Of An Aussie Christmas’. Fittingly we conclude with ‘Christmas Day’ one of a very few Australian carols that capture Christmas in our country – ‘The North wind is tossing the leaves. The red dust is over the town’.
