Feeling sorry for your loss? Wishing things had never happened? Yearning for a lost love? These are bread and butter themes for many pop songs. They are designed to pull on our heart strings and evoke memories. Many of the songs contain the word ‘sorry’. ‘Sorry (Seems To Be The hardest Word) by Elton John, ‘Sorry (I Ran All The Way Home) by the Impalas and ‘Who’s Sorry Now?’ from Connie Francis. Other songs evoke personal memories for our presenters (‘Hard To Say I’m Sorry’) and (‘All Out Of Love’). And there are some classics such as The Everly Bros huge hit ‘Cathy’s Clown’ and prolific C and W singer, Marty Robbins with ‘Just Married’. Rob calls Bobby Vinton‘s ‘Blue On Blue’ a ‘pretty song’.
