The British Invasion

The BRITISH INVASION was a cultural phenomenon of the mid-1960s, when rock and pop music acts from the United Kingdom and other aspects of British culture became popular in the United States giving rise to “counterculture” on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Australia too eagerly embraced this new sensation. This week’s score includes high profilers such as the Beatlesthe Rolling Stones, the Zombiesthe Kinksthe Holliesthe AnimalsSpencer Davis Group and the Searchers. The US group the Buckinghams  was included as a bit of fun. To gain popularity they purposefully adopted a name reflective of the British invasionThe Move who later transitioned into the Electric Light Orchestra, Little Millie, and the Honeycombs complete the playlist.
