Pop Homonyms

Pop Homonyms

Homonyms are words that are spelt the same but have different meanings (e.g lie/lie, stamp/stamp). Pop Homonyms are different songs with the same title. Starting the program this week is the song ‘Come A Little Bit Closer’ by American group, Jay & The Americans. Later in the program we play ‘Come A Little Bit Closer by Aussie group, the Delltones (different song). ‘Without You’ is the title of the Nilsson classic and also a catchy song by teen idol, Johnny Tillotson. The Eagles and the Emotions are two groups which sing a song called ‘Best Of My Love’. Internationally famous Aussie band Little River Band perform ‘Lady’ while Kenny Rogers sings his ballad of the same name. Bobby Gentry performed and wrote the quirky ‘I’ll Never Fall In Love Again’ and LGBTIQ+ singer Johnny Ray sings his last hit also titled ‘I’ll Never Fall In Love Again’.
