The Voices 2

The focal point for this week’s theme is the vocal range and capacity of the following artists…

THE VOICES show commences with the distinctive angelic soprano of Nana Mouskouri displayed in The White Rose of Athens followed by the ‘Caruso’ of rock music, the bel canto tenor Roy Orbison singing In DreamsThe combination of mezzo soprano Aretha Franklin and baritone George Michael scored a Grammy for their song Í knew You Were WaitingJohn Farnham, with his recognizable tenor voice, supports his imaginative interpretation of the Beatles’ Help.

Award winning performer Daryl Braithwaite achieved gold with his One Summer score. Two of our favourite LGBTIQ+ performers include the romantic, soulful tenor of Johnny Mathis with his version of I’ve Grown Accustomed To Her Face and the distinctive mezzo soprano of Dusty Springfield with her delivery of You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me. Smooth voiced baritone Al Martino features in the devotional song Mary In The Morning and the beautiful high tenor voice of Jerry Vale in Pretend You Don’t See HerThe undeniable voice of Mama Cass leads the Mamas and Papas through their song Words of Love and the wonderful low contralto voice of Cher is evident in her version of the Shoop Shoop Song. The final song (You Don’t Know) How Glad I Am belongs to the sassy jazz  pop singer Nancy Wilson.
