Insects

INSECTS

They make up approximately 90% of the world’s animal life forms. They are vital to our planet’s ecology, but sometimes they are a pest to Man. One of the nicest insects is the butterfly and Bob Lind used it as a metaphor for love in his beautiful song Elusive Butterfly. Andy Williams takes a different approach to a butterfly in his fifties hit Butterfly. Funky James Brown has Ants In My Pants while the Rolling Stones posit the two enemies in The Spider And The Fly. The old operatic song Glow Worm Is revived by the harmonious Mills Bros. Tony Bennett‘s Firefly extends this insect. Finallly the insect as enemy is demonstrated in the quirky Boll Weevil Song sung by Brook Benton.
