Sex Workers

Sex Workers

Faced with a challenge to produce a music program around the theme of ‘Sex Workers’ through diligent research we managed to cobble together enough songs. Notable are two songs pushing the boundaries of explicitness for their time – Lou Reed‘s 70s classic ‘Walk On The Wild Side’ and the incorrigible, incomparable purring of Eartha Kitt with the scandalous fifties song ‘Love For Sale’. The Aussie highlight of the week is the now somewhat dubious belief that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute as presented by Helen Reddy (I Don’t Know How To Love Him) from the Andrew Lloyd Weber’s classic musical ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’.
