FEATURED ARTISTS 13

This week’s show features two wonderful British acts. The first is the sensational Welsh entertainer and singer, Dame Shirley Bassey and secondly one of the best, if not the best Rock and Roll bands of all time, the Rolling Stones.

Shirley, whose career began in the mid-1950s, is best known for both her powerful voice and for her recordings of themes from James Bond films. She is considered one of the most popular female vocalists in Britain during the second half of the 20th century.

The Rolling Stones who formed in London in 1962 were at the forefront of the British Invasion of bands popular in the 60’s. They were identified with the youthful and rebellious counterculture of that time.  Now, nearly six decades later their popularity has not waned as they continue to perform and entertain on the global stage.
