ANZAC: Across The Ditch

Our program this week commemorates ANZAC by presenting songs from talented Australian and New Zealand singers. Two classic Aussie tracks are featured: Kevin Johnson‘s Rock N Roll (I Gave You The Best Years Of My Life) and Rob’s favourite Australian song, Doug Ashdown‘s Winter In America. Perhaps the most influential New Zealander to cross the ditch was Max Merritt who scored a huge hit with the poignant Slippin’ Away. Two female New Zealand artists who gained popularity in Australia were Jenny Morris (She Has To Be Loved) and Sharon O’Neill (Words). Super group Split Enz presents one of their earlier songs My Mistake while respected Australian singer Margret Roadknight reprises her only hit – the sardonic Girls In Our Town.
