Yesterday Once More

29 Jun 2025

Indulgence 4

50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, Music, Nostalgia, Songs

In this program Rob is joined by Rachel, longtime listener and friend. Rachel has selected songs which mean something to her or simply appeal to her. At a young age she was enthralled and influenced by the young Lesley Gore’s hit You Don’t Own Me. Rachel from Russell Morris also invoked memories of the Vietnam War and her father. The Vietnam War also provided a backdrop for Normie Rowe’s Maybe Tomorrow. Strong voices marked Rob’s choices: the mellifluous contralto of Karen Carpenter (Solitaire), Bob Lind’s poetic Elusive Butterfly and teen idol, Bobby Vinton with the pretty Blue On Blue. Rachel’s French connection is expressed through Piaf’s iconic Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien.

Playlist:

  • Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress) – The Hollies
  • Always On My Mind – Pet Shop Boys
  • Perfect Day – Lou Reed
