Women

Music

Hi Listeners

Exciting weekend coming up. On Sunday it is International Women’s Day and we are proud to celebrate some of the best women singers.

We will start off with the unofficial anthem of women ‘I Am Woman’ by Australian ex-pat Helen Reddy. Featuring too will be GLBTQI performers Janis Ian (Fly Too High), Lesley Gore with what is often celebrated as the first feminist hit song ‘You Don’t Own Me’, our own Lana Cantrell (Fool On The Hill) and the darling of Joy listeners, Dusty Springfield, singing her big hit ‘Son Of A Preacher Man.’

Complementing these will be other strong female singers such as Bette Midler (Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy), Renee Geyer (Stares And Whispers), Nancy Sinatra (These Boots Are Made For Walking) and the great Aretha Franklin (Respect).

So join with us and celebrate International Women’s Day with some great female singers.
