Rob’s Personal Music Journey

Music

Hi Listeners

Those of you who listened last week would have heard me farewell Mossy. She has gone on her annual pilgrimage to exotic locations. So for the next four weeks I will run the show. This allows me to be self-indulgent this week.

Most of us can map our lives according to songs we remember. This week, that is what I am going to do – give you a potted version of my life and events accompanied by songs.

For a start we are in my home town where I attended primary school (The Little Shoemaker) and where, as a teenager, I was obsessed by the top forty and hit parades (Love Letters In The Sand and I Love You Baby). My story proceeds through my first year as a teacher (When You Walk In The Room) and my marriage (I’ve Got To Get A Message To You and Precious To Me).

The joy of coming out is expressed through the memory of dancing to ‘High Energy at Mandate in St Kilda. My various relationships with men are relayed through “Let’s Stay Together’, ‘Love Cats’ and ‘You Light Up My Life’. Finally I will reminisce about the wonderful and exciting times when I owned a bar in Bali (In These Shoes).

I hope you find my life story interesting and the songs bring back your memories too.
