I’m back from a great trip to Bali and Bangkok. The year is drawing to a close so we want to wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Staring off our schedule for the year is a bright and breezy program all about ‘Songs Of Summer’. There are many songs extolling the virtues of the sun and the summer season such as the Sunray’s ‘I Live For The Sun’, Cliff Richard’s ‘Summer Holiday’ and ‘Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days Of Summer’ by Nat King Cole.

Love, the beach and surfing are all summer activities we have enjoyed. These are represented by ‘Beach Baby’ (First Class) and ‘Surfer Boy’ (Noeleen Batley). Love (‘Summer Nights’ by Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta) and losing your virginity on the beach (‘Summer – The Firat Time’) by Bobby Goldsboro seem to be popular pastimes of the Summer season. Throw in some ‘Summer Rain’ (Johnny Rivers) and ‘Summer In The City’ (Lovin’ Spoonful) for good measure. Aussie singer Diana Trask’s hit ‘Long Ago Last Summer’ is featured and the song from a film of the same name (‘The Long Hot Summer’ by Jimmie Rodgers) ending with a bright conclusion (‘In The Summertime’ by Andy Williams).
