Black

Music

Hi Listeners,

This week our program has a distinctly dark and heavy look. Presenting songs with ‘black’ in the title has resulted in a more sombre tone to the overall program. This has been balanced, however, by some lighter moments. But, when you have a program which features Deep Purple (Black Night) and AC/DC (Back In Black) you can start to see the darkness. Add the Rolling Stones (Paint It Black) and Ram Jam (Black Betty) and the heaviness continues. Furthermore, our own group Chain, adds another heavy element with ‘Black And Blue’.

The less dark moments are represented by the Hollies (Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress) and Santana (Black Magic Woman) and The Beatles (Baby’s In Black). And even lighter moods are created by the most popular version of ‘That Old Black Magic’ by Louis Prima and Keely Smith and the Los Bravos hit ‘Black is Black’. Class is added to the program through the wonderful voice of Ella Fitzgerald with the old standard ‘Black Coffee’. Finally, the program ends with a much lighter, jauntier instrumental y Horst Jankowski (A Walk In The Black Forest).
