Hi Listeners,

This is National Volunteer Week when we celebrate the work of a multitude of volunteers in numerous organisations across our land. Specifically, this week we are celebrating the wonderful volunteers who contribute so much to our own radio station. The importance of our volunteers cannot be overestimated. Approx 300 people bring their skills, offer their time and experience to make Joy 94.9 the success it is today.

Our program this week will celebrate some of these volunteers by presenting a special program of ‘volunteer requests’. We have spoken to all 12 volunteers about their time at Joy, their roles and asked them to nominate a song they want us to play. The result, as you would expect, is an eclectic mix.

The program ranges from a fifties classic ‘True Love’ from Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly to a disco classic,  Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’. Other songs include Bette Midler’s flapper style rendition of ‘In The Mood’ and our own great GLBTI singer Lana Cantrell (Can’t Take My Eyes Off You). Don McLean, The Beatles, The Carpenters, Mama Cass, The Supremes and The Platters will also be featured.
