Experiences

Uncategorized

Hi Listeners,

Experiences. We all have them: every day. In fact experiences are the stuff of living. Sometimes they are bad, sometimes good or sometimes they just are. Multitudes of songs deal with some particular human experience. Some are sensual and sexual as exemplified in Dr Hook’s ‘Sharing The Night Together’ or the Captain and Tennille’s suggestive ‘Do That To Me One More Time’. Some experiences describe us interacting with the natural world. Rare Aussie duo Cheetah scored a big hit in the seventies with ‘Walking In The Rain’ while Gayle Garnett’s exuberant song ‘We’ll Sing In the Sunshine’ evokes the comfort of warmth.

Other songs concern milestones in a human being’s life such as Paul Anka’s controversial song ‘You’re Having My Baby’ (if only he had sung ‘You’re Having Our Baby). Bobby Goldsboro’s tribute to fatherhood is expressed in his poignant song about his son ‘Watching Scotty Grow’ while the Rolling Stone’s ‘!9th Nervous Breakdown’ and Johnny Chester’s ‘Shakin’ All Over’
