Yesterday Once More

2 May 2017

National Volunteer Week

Music

Hi Listeners

This week is National Volunteer Week when the nation celebrates the wonderful work of volunteers across our society. And of course, this is true at Joy 94.9 where about 300 volunteers contribute enormously to keeping us on air. Each week many of our volunteers spend countless hours for the benefit of our organistaion. So this week Yesterday Once More is featuring some of our wonderful volunteers by playing their requests and also featuring LGBTIQ performers from the fifties to the seventies who have come out.

Our requests are from Clayton (Look What They’ve Done To My Song Ma) program imagery co-ordinator and CSA producer. Office Admin and member of C and C Drive team, Tristan (Lost In Love), Newsreader, Dave (Baker Street), Office Admin stalwarts, Corey (Tennessee Waltz), Marcus (Purple People Eater) and Robert (alias Robbie Rockstar on C and C Drive) – ‘To Know Him IS To Love Him.’

The LGBTIQ performers will include the latest singer to come out, Barry Manilow (Can’t Smile Without You), perhaps the most famous LGBTIQ performer, Elton John (Your Song) and the late and sorely missed, Lesley Gore (You Don’t Own Me).  An Aussie and a favourite of ours, Lana Cantrell (Can’t Take My Eyes Off You) and great singers, Janis Ian (At Seventeen) and Johnny Mathis (Teacher Teacher).
