When English speaking singers sing, most of them sing in a neutral accent. However, sometimes accents are deliberately used for novelty or to give a song more authenticity. Three novelty songs with different accents are: ‘My Old Man’s A Dustman’ (Cockney – Lonnie Donegan), ‘Donald Where’s Your Troosers? (Scottish – Andy Stewart) and another cockney accent – ‘ Come Outside’ with Mike Sarne and Wendy Richards. Other accents featured are Portugese, Italian and French. Two Aussie songs are John Williamson’s poignant ‘True Blue’ and the Aussie highlight – Slim Dusty’s classic ‘Pub With No Beer’.
