Labels have become a huge part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Twink, bear, butch, femme, masc, lipstick lesbian – some people love them. To them, it gives them a sense of identity and allows them to feel a part of a subculture within the LGBTQIA+ community.
However, these labels can become damaging – there can be an expectation to meet certain stereotypes, and if you don’t meet them you can be shunned.
They can also be used in aggressive and derogatory ways, not only from people outside our community but fellow queers.
Jordan, Sam + Charlie delve into these labels and why they can be so great but also damaging.
They also chat about Sam being on an amazing ABC show called “What it’s like”.
And to celebrate International Women’s Day, they play music from their favorite female identifying artists!
