Xelle – Red Flag (XELLEMUSIC)
Lady Gaga feat R. Kelly – Do What U Want (UMA)
Jessie J – Thunder (UMA)
Sarah De Bono – Oasis (UMA)
Lana Del Ray vs Cedric Gervais – Young & Beautiful (UMA)
Katy Perry – Unconditionally (EMI)
Guy Sebastian – Like A Drum (SME)
Pitbull feat. Ke$ha – Timber (SME)
We introduced you to Xelle a couple of years ago as a girl trio with a twist – that being that the third girl was in fact drag queen Mimi Imfurst, most famous for her role in the third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Party Girl, Queen and the powerful LGBT-themed anti-bullying song Invincible all had a place on our playlist. Check out the interview the girls did with Chris and Cam in March 2012. Mimi has now parted ways with the group, but Rony and JC are determined to hold true to their very clear LGBT ally role – as is clearly demonstrated with their brand-new single Red Flag, inspired by the recent increase in anti-LGBT sentiment, violence and legislation in Russia and around the world. Strangely, coincidentally, weirdly, both Katy Perry’s and Lady Gaga’s second single from their new albums are once again out in the same week. We like both (again). We think Gaga will be closer in the race to the top of the charts with this one – but we’ve been wrong before!
Pitbull and Ke$ha are no longer touring Australia, but they are still in the top 10, first week of release of their latest collaboration. Speaking of collaborations, Lana Del Ray has engaged Cedric Gervais once again to rework the single that was originally part of The Great Gatsby soundtrack.
UK lesbian Jessie J gets a third single from Alive up and running. We like it.
Aussie music this week from The Voice 2012 finalist Sarah De Bono and Australian Idol 2003 winner Guy Sebastian.
Set your alarm and tune into Rochén and Michael on the six at six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday morning at 6am.
