My Underpants RULE! – Saving Children from abuse.

Sadly, around 1 in 5 children, or one in three girls and one in seven boys will fall victim to sexual abuse before they turn 18 – and the figure is even higher when the definition includes offences such as ‘flashing’ and cases not reported to the authorities. While all parents hope their child will never find themselves in a situation like this, one of the greatest challenges as a parent is how to protect and empower your child against this.

As a police officer for almost two decades, Kate Power saw her fair share of the seedy side of life, and found child sexual assault the most disturbing part of the job.

After starting a family of her own, Kate felt compelled to take action to not only to protect her own children, but to empower all children to protect themselves from the perpetrators of child sexual abuse.

The result is My Underpants RULE! which teaches children a golden rule to empower and protect them if they find themselves in an uncomfortable situation.

10 per cent of proceeds from books sold via www.myunderpantsrule.com will be donated to Barnardos Australia to combat child abuse.
