WHAT HAVE WE SEEN LATELY ?

SHOW : LITTLE ORPHAN TRASHLEY : The latest show from Trevor Ashley, loosely (and we mean loose!) based on ANNIE, about a tranny trying to get gender reassignment surgery, but the plot is irrelevant really. There are great performances from all the cast including Rhonda Birchmore and Garry Sweet, plus Dennis was particularly enamoured of Bullsh*t The Dog with the bubble butt. Very rude and very funny.

FILM : THE LONE RANGER : Expectations were low, but if you liked the Pirates of The Carribean franchise, and remember the TV version of the Lone Ranger then you’ll love this. It’s full of excitement, thrills and spills, that same droll humour and a hunky Lone Ranger. We loved it.

FILM : THE AUDIENCE : This was a National Theatre Live filmed production of the play starring Helen Mirren as the Queen, giving her weekly audience to 10 UK Prime Ministers. The dialogue was witty and sparkling, Helen Mirren’s performance was FLAWLESS!!! If you get a chance to see this, please do. This is a woman at her absolute peak.

FILM : MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING : At last it’s here, the Josh Whedon (Buffy, Angel, Avengers) production of the Shakespeare play. And what a wonder to behold. Filmed in a modern setting, men in suits, and black and white. It took 10-15 minutes to adjust to Shakespeare’s version of English, but once that hurdle was covered, the plot, about the tortured road to the altar for two couples, began. The actors managed to bring such humour and pathos to dull old Shakepeare, they really brought it to life. Excellent.
