Welcome to A TOUCH OF PINK. If you were interested in all those songs that for some reason didn’t make the pop charts, but lurked just underneath … they could be obscure international artists, struggling gays, or just too weird to be seen in the light of day, just join us this Saturday to hear our selection.

This week we particularly Circuit 21 , ONO, Dharma Patrol ft Boy George, MKS, Karmin and Natalie Kills.

WHAT HAVE WE SEEN LATELY ?

SHOW : GYPSY : Excuse me, but Caroline O’Connor is amazing. As the star of this musical, as Rose’s mother, she brought the house down. Actually, the whole show and cast were wonderful, it was such a great night out, but Caroline O’Connor is still amazing. Shame the season is over.

FILM : THE LOOK OF LOVE : A biopic of Paul Raymond (starring Steve Coogan), the Soho property millionaire who made his name with nude cabarets and men’s magazines. This was a rather sad look at his sleazy life. He seemed to go from wife to mistress to wife to mistress without finding happiness except through sex and drugs, and his daughter, who he messed up by condoning her use of drugs. As you might guess there was no happy ending, but it was a wonderful recreation of Soho in the 60’s and 70’s.

FILM : THE IRON BUTTERFLY : Part of the Russian Resurrection Film Festival, this was a Russian police drama, about a killer of young girls in parks. The lead detective teams up with a troubled young girl to use as bait to catch the killer. The movie then moves into his private life and the crush the young girl develops on him. Interesting story and plot, but it confirmed my decision not to go for a holiday to Russia.

FILM : A GUN IN EACH HAND : Part of the recent Spanish Film Festival, and now on general release, this was a very entertaining movie about a group of men (and their wives, girlfriends etc) and their problems. A few had been through divorces, one’s wife was cheating on him with a friend, another’s wife was pregnant and he was chatting up a co-worker. All had sad stories, and through the film you got to find out the background to their stories, until most ended up at the same cocktail party at the end of the film. But there were many humorous moments, it wasn’t all depressing. Worth considering.
