Welcome to A TOUCH OF PINK, a slightly left of centre pop show. We play all those tracks that mostly didn’t quite make it into the mainstream, but for fans of popjustice.com etc, we give them an airing or two.

This week we particularly like Father Tiger’s covers mini CD Summer Solstice, Franskild, the new Annie ep, Twincest, new Goldfrapp, new Moby, Pink Gin and Jetski Safari (from Enzed).

Our TRACK OF THE WEEK is “Love the way you move” by Melbourne band SLIGHTLY LEFT OF CENTRE. They have a really coll animated video to promote the release. See below.

WHAT HAVE WE SEEN LATELY ?

SHOW : TWISTED BROADWAY : Now in its’ 4^th year, and hosted on this night by Trevor Ashley (who started proceedings with “Roxie” from Chicago) and Erika Heymatz, all those show boys got to sing the girls’ and vice versa (the stunning cast was made up of performers from King Kong, Legally Blonde etc). So you had the most buffed dozen young men doing “Big Spender” and a very elegant woman doing “Man Of La Mancha”. And so it went … it was funny and tragic and all those usual show queen emotions. Unmissable! It’s going to be repeated in Sydney on 19^th August, otherwise you’ll have to wait till next year.

FILM : ONLY GOD FORGIVES : I wasn’t too sure what to expect, but any film with Ryan Gosling and Kristin Scott Thomas has to be at least interesting. Well, it certainly was. If you can imagine Quentin Tarantino doing Twin Peaks in Bangkok, you’re getting close. It was about a drug gang trying to get revenge for the murder of their brother, but the Police Chief has other ideas. Too bizarre to really describe, but if the description whetted your appetite then I say give it a go. We loved it.

FILM : FRANCES HA : This covered a few months in the life of a ditzy 20-something girl in New York. The only constants in her life were here best friend from Uni and her part-time job in a dance studio. The rest revolved around a constantly changing group of friends and apartments. Her life and adventures were by turns endearing and exasperating. Overall enjoyable, but she was very manic, highly strung and I’m guessing high maintenance.
