Welcome to another Touch Of Pink. We are building up momentum as some great new tracks are coming out. Tonight a double from a new American duo A Great Big World, Auto Body, Caseno, Fall Out Boy, Pixie Lott, Icona Pop, Rufus Wainwright, One Republic etc. There are some really interesting new artists around that are worth a listen.

Single Of The Week is “My God” by Boy George. I have loved the boy from his Culture Club days and, to my mind, he is still making amazing music. This track is the second single from his new album This Is What I Do. Listen to the words, please. You can tell he still cares about the world

What Have We Seen ThIs Week ?

Don’t forget the Exhibition @ ACMI : Spectacle The Music Videos : Here’s another example of the videos on display … interested now ? Note: It finishes 23 Feb 2014.

Movie : Her : Joaquin Phoenix plays a man, set just a little in the future, who’s getting over a broken marriage. He purchases a new operating system for his computer/phone, like a version of Suri but with an ever increasing artificial intelligence. Voiced by Scarlett Johansson, a close relationship forms between the two. I won’t say where it leads but it’s an interesting and very moving journey.

Movie : Saving Mr Ryan : A wonderful feel-good movie of the back story to Walt Disney producing the movie Mary Poppins. He pursued the author for 20 years, and the film covers the negotiations between the author played by Emma Thompson and Walt Disney played by Tom Hanks. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, it’s a moving story, and the Australian content is wonderful to see.

Movie : American Hustle : A film, partially based on actual events, about a con man, getting caught by the police, and agreeing to help them with a sting to get incriminate some politicians. The plot becomes very convoluted, a little like the TV series “The Hostage”, but the recreations of the seventies, the costumes, the hair, the music are wonderful. The humour is quite black. Excellent.
