Welcome to my Touch Of Pink blog page. As I’m down to one hour I’ve had to pick only the very best tracks for you to listen to, so they’re all good, but I really love the Jake Sims song “Blind”. Also, check out my Top 5 (or possibly 6, or even 7) videos, Single Of The Week and a brief synopsis of the films/shows I’ve seen this week.

Single Of The Week is “Faith” from VV Brown featuring Kele Obereke, the gay singer from Bloc Party. Just a nice track, a nice message and no cheese.

What Have I Seen ThIs Week ?

Film: Captain America: The Winter Soldier: This turned out to be a really great movie, a good plot, excellent effects, well rounded character plus some great action pieces. More of an adults movie because Captain America does a lot of ruminating on his purpose in life, but that’s what made it so good. 4 ½ out of 5

Film of a Stage Show: Noel Coward’s Private Lives: The play was written in 1930, it’s a very British comedy of manners focusing on a divorced couple who are both on their honeymoon’s with new partners, in adjoining hotel rooms. When they meet up the romance rekindled to devastating effect. The performances are very over the top, the dialogue is ultra bitchy, so, naturally, I loved it. But, it is a product of it’s era, so be warned. 4 out of 5

Film: Fading Gigolo: Not a Woody Allen production, but he is a major character. The plot concerns Woody Allen acting as a pimp to some of his rich lady friends looking for a dalliance with a mature man, the guy who works in his bookshop. This could have been sleazy, but it turns out to be quite sweet, particularly the scenes between a very orthodox Jewish widow and the gigolo. Also, there is an amazing list of cameo roles, including Gloria from Modern Family. Check the trailer. 3 ½ out of 5

Film: Finsterworld: Part of the Festival Of German Films: This was a very dark comedy with numerous odd plotlines that eventually came together at the end. Items included a male podiatrist who was a bit too keen working on elderly woman’s feet, a nasty group of high school kids on an excursion to a concentration camp, and a policeman who like to dress up in animal costumes and meet people with a similar interest (furries). The journey was intense but fascinating. Those crazy Germans. 3 1/2 out of 5
